The younger generation, which is more generous, flexible, sensitive and dynamic, can do wonders if properly guided and motivated. Mao was well aware of the power, exuberance, spontaneity, ebullience and unlimited energy of the youth and used these to great advantage for himself and China. Besides China, there are many other countries like France and Indonesia, etc. It is easy to blame the youth of India for impatience, indiscipline, and irreverence for the elders, authority and social customs. But all these reflect one-sidedness and lack of proper understanding on the part of the elders and grown-ups.
No doubt the youth of modern India has its own limitations and problems, etc. If the youth of India have any shortcomings and faults, the elders are to blame because the former mirror the latter.
Power of Indian Youth
Proper orientation and positive steps are needed to engage the youth of the country in nation-building activities. Their zeal, enthusiasm and energy need to be channelized in developmental activities and social reconstruction. The Indian youth, full of inexhaustible power, is always eager to do something positive, constructive and appreciable for the society and the nation. In order to harness the youth-power of the country, a National Youth Policy has been framed to instill in the youth a deep awareness of national ideals of secularism, non-violence, integration and our ancient historical and cultural heritage.
It also aims at developing qualities of discipline, self-reliance, leadership, justice, fair play, sporting spirit and scientific temper so as to enable them to combat superstitions, obscurantism and other numerous social ills and evils. With the above objectives in view, adventure institutions, cultural centres, Yuvak Kendras, and sports centres, etc.
These provide training. It is the duty of the parents to nurture their children and help them become good human beings. Teachers also play a major role in building the youth of the nation. They must take their responsibility seriously. By nurturing honest and committed individuals they are building a strong nation. Youth are an integral part of a nation. A nation that has energetic, curious and hard working youth and is able to provide them ample opportunity to work and grow builds a strong base for its own development.
There have been numerous talented and hard working youth in our country that has made the nation proud. The young generation in India is enthusiastic and keen on learning new things. Be it in the field of science, technology or sports — the youth of our country excels in every field. The government of India also aims at youth-led development.
Youth must play an active role in the growth and development of the country rather than being at the receiving end.
In order to encourage and empower the young minds, the government of the country has launched the National Youth Policy. This is aimed at channelizing the potential of the youth in the right direction that would in turn help in strengthening the nation as a whole. Several education programs have also been launched to ensure that every child in the country gets education. The government of India does not make gender discrimination.
With the intent to empower the girls in the country, the government has launched the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao program. The Department of Youth Affairs is also actively involved in the empowerment of the youth. It has launched several initiatives for enhancing the leadership qualities and other skills of the youth in the country. A nation that focuses on its youth and empowers them by way of different initiatives and programs is moving in the right direction. India is working towards building strong and intelligent youth. However, we still have a long way to go. The older generations often dismiss the youth as impulsive and short tempered.
What they do not understand is that what they grow up to be is mainly an outcome of how they have been raised. It is thus the duty of each generation to nurture its off-springs the right way so that they go on to make them and the nation proud. There are mainly two types of people in this world — those who act responsibly and follow the set norms and others who question the norms and act irresponsibly.
While there is nothing wrong with questioning the norms based on logic however acting irresponsibly is not acceptable. The youth today has a lot of potential and it is the duty of the parents and the teachers to direct their creativity and calibre in the right direction. Here are a few things you can do to raise responsible youth:. Do not wait for your child to turn 10 or enter teenage before you begin teaching them moral values or start assigning them tasks. Begin this when they are still toddlers. They must learn how to behave in public, how to carry out different tasks and other stuff from an early age itself.
Of course, keep their age in mind while teaching them anything or getting stuff done from them. It is important for you to teach your kids what is right and what is wrong.

Assign small tasks such as helping you set the dinner table or segregating fruits and vegetables or placing the toys at the right place.
This instils them with a sense of responsibility and makes them ready to take on bigger responsibilities in life. Email me when someone replies. Post comment.
